One for Art’s mission is to empower the orphanage children by encouraging self-expression through different means of art. With the help of volunteers, One for Art seeks to host weekend photography, writing, arts and crafts workshops that will enable the children to tell their stories while positively shaping their self-esteem. One for Art seeks to raise monetary donations, which will be used to fund workshops and enable volunteers to provide the children with the necessary tools. Donations will also be directed to help publish a series of photographs taken by the students that will continue to help raise funds for the orphanage and help spread awareness.

Casa Hogar Lirio de los Valles Orphanage is located in Playas, Tijuana, just a few miles south of the U.S./ Mexico transnational border. For many of the children that are housed there, the idea of the “American dream”, has robbed them of a dream of their own. Many of the children at the orphanage share similar stories of abandonment and separation from family members that crossed the border and never looked back. Many of them will never see their parents, grandparents, sisters, or brothers again. While the human aspects of immigration continue to be overlooked by superficial policies, the stories of those victimized by circumstance continue to grow on both sides of the border.

Casa Hogar Lirio de los Valles Orphanage houses up to 80 children ages 2-18 and seeks to provide a place in which children can call their home. Their mission is not to serve as another institution, but to create a family environment where the children feel loved and nurtured. With no help from the Mexican government, the orphanage relies heavily on donations to provide the children with the bare necessities. Currently, the orphanage is in dire need of funding for their upcoming projects. The orphanage is in the process of building a new kitchen, multipurpose room, and classrooms that will ultimately improve their social development and safety.

La misión de One for Art consiste en capacitar a los niños del orfanato, fomentando la libre expresión a través de los diferentes medios de arte. Con la ayuda de voluntarios, One forArt pretende acoger talleres de fotografia, escritura creativa, artes de artesanía que permitan a los niños a contar sus historias mientras positivamente construir su autoestima. One for Art pretende recaudar donaciones monetarias, que se utilizarán para financiar talleres y permitir a voluntarios para proporcionar las herramientas necesarias para los ninos. Las donaciones también se destinarán a ayudar a publicar una serie de fotografías tomadas por los estudiantes que continuarán para ayudar a recaudar fondos para el orfanato y ayudar a difundir el conocimiento.

Casa Hogar Lirio de los Valles Orfanato está ubicado en Playas de Tijuana, a pocos kilómetros al sur de la frontera de los EE.UU. / México transnacional. Para muchos de los niños que se alojan allí, la idea del “Sueno Americano”, les ha robado el sueño de los suyos. Muchos de los niños en el orfanato comparten las mismas historias de abandono y separación de miembros de la familia que cruzaron la frontera y nunca miraron hacia atrás. Muchos de ellos nunca verán a sus padres, abuelos, hermanas o hermanos de nuevo. Mientras que los aspectos humanos de la inmigración siguen siendo sobrevisto por las políticas superficiales, las historias de los damnificados por las circunstancias siguen creciendo en ambos lados de la frontera.

Casa Hogar Lirio de los Valles orfanato alberga a 80 niños de 2-18 años de edad y busca proveer un lugar donde los niños puedan llamar su hogar. Su misión no es la de servir como otra institución, sino crear un ambiente familiar donde los niños se sientan amados y cuidados. Sin ayuda del gobierno Mexicano, el orfanato depende en gran medida de las donaciones para proporcionar a los niños con las necesidades básicas. En la actualidad, el orfanato está en extrema necesidad de fondos para sus próximos proyectos. El orfanato está en el proceso de
construcción de una nueva cocina, sala de usos múltiples, aulas que ayudaran a mejorar su desarrollo social y seguridad.
